It may look like Buckminster Fuller'sinterpretation of the Popemobile, but this is actually one Chinese company'sidea of an armored electric police patrol car.

Wearing a name as unwieldy as its looks,the ZijingQingyuan Armored Spherical Cabin Electric Patrol Vehicle, it debuted at theSecurity China show in Beijing last month, according to Car News China.

It's apparently designed for use by riotpolice, with the idea that they'll get an unobstructed 360-degree view from thearmored bubble cockpit.

If the numerous hexagonal windows don'tprovide enough visibility (or if it rains, since there are only two wipers),there's also a camera mounted on top of the sphere.

1) If you think that you would need a vehicle to travel more than 45mph in a Chinese city, than you have neverbeen to CHINA... I have lived there and trust me when I say, that a bicyclecop, not a motorcycle cop, has a better chance of catching criminals in thosedensely populated cities.
2) The moment that the Chinese become a CREATIVE society marks the end of theAmerican empire. They have 3-4 times the labor force with much of it beingdisposable labor. They are amassing wealth at a record pace and will become the#1 GDP by 2016 with no signs of slowing down. They are the majority lender toout country and account for roughly 70% of our debt.

Terrible useless design...
Lets see... used by the riot police, which would mean that it would be usedduring riots and protests. What usually happens during protests and riots?Protestors and rioters might put up barricades and barriers... I don't see thisthing doing anything in that instance. Also there might be a lot of junk thatis on the ground... this car lacks any ground clearance to deal with that. Andnice flat area on the back for rioters/protestors to get on top of...
Whoever designed this might need to go back to design/engineering school...because all it looks like is they took a regular car and plopped that"armored" cockpit on top...

文章中说是给防暴警察使用的，这意味着在发生或者抗议时会使用到这种车辆。而抗议和发生时是一个怎样的情景？抗议者和者可能会建立路障和障碍。。。在这种情况下我觉得这款是无法发挥作用的。而且道路上可能会有很多垃圾，而这款车根本就没有任何的清理垃圾设备。而且车背部平平的，者和抗议者很容易就可以爬上去了。。。
不管是谁设计了这款车都应该回去学校再学习学习，因为这款车看起来就像是在一辆普通的汽车上安装一个“装甲”座舱罢了。

In this case, China is the worlds manufacturer. If an inexperienced Americanhas an idea but are to dumb, greedy or lazy to make it a reality just go toChina and China will make it a reality.
Look at Apple, they don't have the manufacturing capability and supply lines tomake a Apple product so they need to go to Fox Conn in China to make create theproduct. This is the sad fate of overpaid Americans who are unable tomanufacture their own things but have to rely on other countries, like China,to do the work their own country should be doing. Interestingly enough,Americans complain about cheap Chinese products when it is the greedy Americancorporations who design and dictate the quality of the product produced fromChinese Manufacturers.

Calm down, stop pointing and tittering...the design of this vehicle fits the purpose. There will be no high speedpursuits or arrests (no back seat).
This is a crowd control vehicle with a kinder gentler appearance. Picture aphalanx of 50 or more of these armored electric vehicles, shoulder to shoulder,deflecting stick and stone impacts without harm to the police officers whileclearing demonstrators from Tienanmen Square. Much better optics compared tothe tanks seen on June 1989. Bravo Zijing Quingyuan, even the hexagonal windowsshow authority.
